End of Year Interview 2021 Kalvino ‘Some big personal moments for me that I’m pretty proud of’

At Bandit Gang, the end of the year means the end of year interviews. All members are put to the test one by one about the events of the past year that shaped them. Private as well as business. In these interviews in which no mince of words will be stated, no taboos exist, sometimes harsh words are used and where you get a nice insight into the soul life of the interviewee.

Babyjosus: Welcome Kalvino, you are the next in line after Enzo! How would you reflect on the year 2021?

Kalvino: Looking back I can say 2021 was better than 2020! Some big personal moments for me that I’m pretty proud of. Happy that I finally started streaming this past February as it’s something I always wanted to try. Also got my first ever Passport and left the country for the first time! So focusing on the positive it was a good year.

BJ: You recently joined Team Bandit Gang as a streamer for Gwent after you finished your 1 month trial, how are you liking it?

K: I’m loving it! I’ve been wanting to do more in the Community and being in BG allows me to do just that. I enjoy being able to talk with teammates about the game and work on the cool projects we’ve got. We recently put out Meme Snapshot 4 which is probably my favorite project. It brings a smile to my face when someone says they tried one of the decks.

BJ: How have you enjoyed your journey on Twitch so far?

K: I’ve been a viewer of gaming content for most of my life so naturally have always wondered if I’d be able to do it myself. This year I proved to myself that I can, I’ve also gained a deeper understanding of what it means to be a public personality and not an anonymous viewer. I truly have loved my time on Twitch thus far. I have met some really cool people and even better, I’ve made some friends!

BJ: I know that you visited fellow teammate GhostArya this year, could you share the most memorable moment you had together?

K: I spent three weeks in Prague staying with Arya and Jerry in August. It was my first time leaving the States to see some of Europe. Prague was the perfect first destination. It was such a memorable trip with so many great moments. I also had the pleasure of meeting Mercernn in his town and Elis from Team Aretuza at a festival we went to. I have a lot of great memories from my time there but one with Arya I’ll share is from my first week there. We went up to the Petřín Lookout Tower. The elevator was out so we had to climb up what seemed like thousands of steps (at least to me since I wasn’t used to all the stairs) for the beautiful view and it was so worth it. After climbing back down we saw an old fashioned Carousel and looked at each other: We gotta go on that right!? We were a bit nervous since being adults, we weren’t sure they’d let us on, so with my Czech not being the best Arya had to go ask the person working it if we could and they said of course! We were so happy and got to ride around just like the kids, it was such a wholesome moment of pure fun that I remember fondly.

BJ: I love to hear it! By the way, what is the secret behind the stache?

K: The stache does not permit me to reveal its secrets.

BJ: What a bummer. Is there anything (else) that you would like to do next year?

K: After finally traveling overseas for the first time I’ve got a real itch to travel more and more! There are many places I’d like to see but it all depends on my planning skills, scheduling, and of course money which I sadly don’t have an endless supply of. One thing I have my eye on is Twitch Con in Amsterdam.

BJ: Do you have any new year’s resolutions?

K: I’ve never been too into the resolutions thing as I think personal improvement should be a constant goal! With that said I’d like to go into the next year focusing on living more in the moment and overthinking less.

BJ: Anything you want to say to the reader in anticipation of 2022?

K: I try my best to focus on positivity but it’s not always the easiest thing to do. It’s a bit difficult to look back on a year with total clarity as we are beings of the present. I think we can find comfort not in deciding if we had more good times than bad but in the fact that regardless of what happened last year we are here now and going into a new year! None of us know what it truly has in store for us. That thought could be perceived as scary or daunting but I believe it’s best to see it as exciting, inspiring, and full of potential. In closing I’d like to say make the most of 2022 as you can as we should every day.

BJ: Cheers and happy holidays!

*Kalvino's Top 10 Cards of 2021

*Kalvino started his top 10 with 1 (and onward) instead of number 10.

1 – Gezras: My favorite Gwent card forever, it’s always just so satisfying to set up that full back row and see him jump back to make that shining light animation boost everything.

2- Simlas: I’ve really loved all the fun this card has brought! So many different ways to make use of this ability.

3- Bountiful Harvest: My favorite new Nature card. Such a good card with Handbuff synergy and it gives you a unit on the board! What else do you need?

4- Sorceress: Without contest it’s the best bronze Elf card. The dream is to boost her to then create a Harvest which finds you another in an infinite loop.

5- Alissa Henson: An amazing Neutral card, allowing you to play Shupe twice so easily in any deck! Also the backbone of my Quadruple Harvest deck.

6- Fucusya: Second Wind is back baby.

7- Melusine: I love me some self wound SK and this card can damage two cards at once while giving you Rain to damage the opponent!

8- Little Havfrue: This little mermaid is just has so many synergies in SK and such great voicelines.

9- Illusionist: One of the strongest 4p card with such a powerful ability that you have to plan out how to make it work best for you!

10- Uma’s Curse: It got a Provision buff which only made it easier to highroll to victory in any faction!
