End of Year Interview 2021 LawAndOtter ‘This has been a year of change for me’

At Bandit Gang, the end of the year means the end of year interviews. All members are put to the test one by one about the events of the past year that shaped them. Private as well as business. In these interviews in which no mince of words will be stated, no taboos exist, sometimes harsh words are used and where you get a nice insight into the soul life of the interviewee.

Babyjosus: Welcome Eva, you are the next in line after Carrost. So first things first. Could you tell the reader something about yourself?

LawAndOtter: I’m currently house hunting! While I own my current house, I didn’t actually shop around for it, so this is my first time shopping on the open market. It’s stressful and confusing, but also fun and exciting. I’m looking forward to finding a place I can settle into for the next 20 years or so

BJ: And how would you reflect on the year 2021?

LAO: This has been a year of change for me, as I’ve changed jobs and am looking to change where I live. It was nice to have some bright spots after the downer of a year that was 2020, though.

BJ: That’s great to hear! And what was your most memorable moment this year?

LAO: Seeing my family this summer for the first time in 1.5 years was pretty great.

BJ: And another memorable moment for you was to join Team Bandit Gang as an article writer after you finished your 1 month trial, how are you liking it?

LAO: Loving it! I’ve enjoyed writing content and helping out with website stuff.

BJ: How have you enjoyed the team itself so far?

LAO: Everyone’s been really nice and welcoming. I’m glad to be a part of it.

BJ: Is there anything (else) that you would like to do next year?

LAO: Trying to keep my goals for 2022 pretty low-key. On the Bandit Gang front, I’m currently in between projects, hoping that inspiration will strike soon.

BJ: Do you have any new year’s resolutions?

LAO: No, I’ve never really been a big fan of resolutions.

BJ: Anything you want to say to the reader in anticipation of 2022?

LAO: Nope!

BJ: Cheers and happy holidays!

*LawAndOtter's Top 10 Cards of 2021

*LawAndOtter started her top 10 with her number 1 (and onward) instead of number 10.

1. Simlas: This card really did wonders for my favorite faction. There are so many different uses for it, from memes like Waylay Spam to legitimate meta decks. It even shifted over time as cards released from Orb of Insight to Bountiful Harvest being the primary target. It encourages different approaches to deckbuilding, helps thin bronze cards, and provides a ton of flexibility in terms of which round you use it. Nothing from Price of Power even comes close to Simlas for me.

2. Megascope: I love that Megascope provided one of the only 4p bronze ways of consistently generating 8+ points. It requires building your deck with high base power units, and it doesn’t work in swarm decks since it takes up a board space. It’s just a nice, balanced addition to the game that boosts other bronze cards like Raging Bear and Greatsword.

3. Havfrue Singer: After ST, SK is my other main faction. I especially like playing Battle Trance, and Singer is a great addition there, especially with the leader passive. It creates a fun little puzzle to find ways to heal every turn.

4. Sorceress of Dol Blathanna: She’s still great at 6p. Her art is stunning, and the premium is even better.

5. Bearification: Bear? Bear. BEAR!!!!

6. Filavandrel: I love that his card was considered too weak until the community figured out that Nature’s Gift was pretty good with handbuff thrown in it. It’s a fun card to play, even if Dunca randomness can be frustrating.

7. The Brute: This looked overcosted at first, but it turns out Jackpot Bounty is solid, and The Brute is usually 15+ points in that deck. It also creates some interesting smaller moments, such as playing it before you’re done with your bounties if what you just killed was a higher power.

8. Fucusya: Not a huge fan of this card, but it’s just so strong and flexible, so here it is.

9. Artaud Terranova: I don’t really like NG, but this card is pretty sweet and one of the best reasons to play NG.

10. The Mushy Truffle: I really like cards that encourage playing other cards that you might not normally play. Truffle encourages you to play bronze Bonded units, and it ever-so-slightly warps deckbuilding in some interesting ways. It’s almost always useful, and it’s flexible because of the carryover. Also, it’s a banger in mushroom SK, so that’s nice.
