This is ”Whats In My Deckbuilder?”, a series by Babyjosus in which he asks Bandit Gang members and other people from the community to share their insights about what kind of lists they have in their deckbuilder. The decks in one’s arsenal often say a lot about the person. The player could be a creator at heart and enjoy running his/her own homebrews and even personalize their deck loadout by naming their creations. But of course, you also have the kind of person who looks at a meta snapshot, starts netdecking the best lists from it and might not even bother giving them unique names. Oh well, there is only one way to find out and that is by exposing them through this series!
Obzio's Deck Picks
If anyone has ever been on my twitch, it is obvious how much love I have for wild hunt and frost (including being dubbed the Ice Queen which I take as a compliment). Fellow bandit Decode, who has taught me so very much about deckbuilding amongst other things, helped me put this together. The purpose of this deck is to get as much frost as possible and just have fun with it! You’ll notice it is missing some heavy hitters because of that but hey, more frost! I’ve had a surprising amount of success with this deck considering my thought behind it had nothing to do with it being competitive by any stretch of the imagination!
Okay so first let me just say this, I truly believe Yrden is one of the most wholesome cards in the game, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. Second, man do I love vampires! Both in and out of Gwent. About a week or so after Renfri emerged to the scene I got kind of bored seeing the same Renfri decks being played everywhere. I also wanted to play with Renfri but wanted something fresh. At the time I had not seen anyone publicly try Vampries and Renfri deck, so I built this. The satisfaction when playing my man Regis in R3 combined with Renfri giving boost equal to its base power is unmatched for me. Surprisingly, I haven’t lost with this deck yet! (Granted I’ve played maybe just over 10 games since it came out xD)
Gezras…need I say more?? This deck also has a very special place because this was the first deck, I made a guide and YouTube video about. It was also the first homebrewed deck that I used to get to pro. I have updated it with a card here and there to stay on top of provision changes, but the essence is the same. I built this during the elf meta, again because I was bored of going against the same type of Elf decks but I also realized how good elves were, so I wanted to add some flavor and mix it up.
Another deck that I have fond memories about. Yes, I hoard decks that have sentimental value for me. This was made many seasons ago and since then a few people, including Decode, Munchies and xdxkaii have made it slightly different here and there. This deck reminds me of an old, battered car I used to have. It was old, rusty, barely held together, but it was great in it’s prime. I just didn’t get rid of it cause I liked it so much. And years after it’s prime it still did the job most of the time, just like good old reliable shrooms.
Before you say anything…I only play this when I’m really bored and don’t care about losing. This is just a deck with 3 out of 4 Regis in the game (Regis: Bloodlust should never be played). You need the RNG gods on your side a lot of the times to win. But using Regis for stealing boost, damaging rows, and just slamming a thicc boi at the end brings great joy to my soul.
