Baine1 – What’s In My Deckbuilder?

This is ”Whats In My Deckbuilder?”, a series by Babyjosus where he asks Bandit Gang members and other people from the community to share their insights about what kind of decks they have in their deckbuilder. The decks in one’s deckbuilder often say a lot about the person. The player could be a deckbuilder at heart and enjoy running his/her own homebrews and even personalize their deck loadout by giving them names. But of course, you also have the person who looks at a meta snapshot, starts netdecking the best lists from it and might not even bother giving them unique names. Oh well, there is only one way to find out and that is by exposing them through this series!

Baine1's Deck Picks

Wholesome Assimilate
This has lately become one of my favorite NG decks. It is what I call wholesome Assimilate which is actually pretty good still. In January I got it to a decent 2530 mmr, beating pretty much all other decks on ladder. It runs more engines than your opponent can remove usually, but the setup takes time, so you try to win round 1 or if you already know that’s not gonna happen, try to get out of r1 early and defend the bleed in a longer r2. Angouleme is actually pretty good with all the locations running around and can single-handedly win you a short round. One of the few decks from me that does not have Lambert. May he forgive my soul for this blasphemy!

Baine of Glory
I present Baine of Glory, one of my go to decks in every season. I still consider Blaze of Glory one of the coolest leader abilities to play around with. I might have to admit that it is kinda outdated by now, and I usually play a different version (see the other list), but this is still fun to get out once in a while. We are in a meta where people usually open with an engine that gets boosted with the tactical advantage or crystal skull and nobody expects Shupe in SK. Great point swing if you just charm it over to your side. Deck is teched against pretty much all things you can want, with the ability to go for artifact removal on Shupe if you have a more threatening heatwave target. If you wanna have fun, I recommend this.

Baine of Glory 2
This is the Baine of Glory I am currently playing (before that it was a devotion deck with warrior focus). This is inspired heavily by Tailbots latest deck, also running Madoc. I am a great fan of Madoc, and tried fitting it into any deck possible, so I can totally see it being a great addition in a more control heavy SK deck. This is doing really well on ladder too, beating a lot of current meta decks.

Call of Lambert
Harmony is back! Well, kinda. The latest buff to the Harmony leader inspired me to try and get one of those old school harmony decks back into action. Running most of what you might remember from back when harmony was everywhere. Try and go for a long r3 and you should be able to out-power a lot of decks. You might want to bleed out some scenarios in certain match-ups, or other cards (Keltullis), before going into r3, though. I could see people with less virtues change Lambert for something that enables them to go devotion, but I recommend Lambert for the Lambert effect: Eggs and Grandmas.

Got-em! My superior charm and writing skills made you read all the way to the bottom. Welcome in the sewers. I present you Viy. And then we eat Viy. And then we play Viy. And then we eat Viy. You know the drill. You thought it is dead? Oh, my sweet summer-child. It was never really gone. You think because hardly anyone plays it, it is dead? I play this deck to channel my inner monster, and I can guarantee that it still works like before the big nerfs. It is a deck that you play in darkness, so you don’t have to see yourself play it. For the same reason there is no Lambert, he does not want to be associated with this abomination.

Who Is Baine1?

Baine1 is one of the OG streamers for Gwent, and known for his fiery passion for the witcher Lambert. In my book, Baine is a very creative deckbuilder. People like Repelmer praised Baine for his harpy shotgun deck back in beta. And I would say that Baine hasn’t changed that much, except that he lost his hair over the last couple years, but he still comes up with his creative homebrews.

When it comes to streaming, Baine has a very calming personality and even the worst meta decks won’t have an effect on him. He keeps calm and just slams his Lambert on the board.  Make sure to find your way to his Twitch, because you will see  decks being played that you have never seen before. You can find Baine on Twitch here and on Twitter here.
